Harrogate Hawks win tenth U7s Tournament
For the 10th year of the Under 7s Tournament, held at Studley Royal Cricket Club on Sunday 2nd July, it was Harrogate Hawks who took home the 2023 trophy as worthy winners.
It was great to see the junior players getting stuck in and showing their commitment to the Kettlewell Fuels Nidderdale Junior Cricket League in an action-packed day of cricket. Despite the empty threat of rain that day, 11 local teams and 88 young players participated in this year’s round-robin style competition. Broken down into four divisions, there were some close fought matches between the teams, each playing two games in the qualifiers.
The results were as follows:
Division A
Beckwithshaw 221 v Harrogate Hawks 247
Beckwithshaw 207 v Harrogate Hawks 249
Division B
Harrogate Dragons 274 v Knaresborough 234

The winners of each division battled it out in the Semi Finals prior to the nail-biting Final between Harrogate Hawks and Whixley.

At the presentation, Ken Coad, League Chairman, thanked Kettlewell Fuels for their continued support and sponsorship, as well as the players and coaches for providing such a fun day of cricket. He congratulated the winners but said that the real joy was watching so many juniors enjoying the day’s cricket.
This is the 10th year of the competition, with previous winners being three-time champions Harrogate, two-time winner Spofforth, Studley Royal, Whixley, North Stainley and Follifoot.
Kettlewell Fuels Managing Director Stuart Illingworth said: “As sponsor of the Nidderdale Junior Cricket League, I want to say well done to all the teams taking part and especially to the Harrogate Hawks who showed exceptional determination winning every game they played.”
