Kettlewell Fuels Nidderdale Junior Cricket League Celebrates Successful 2023

The Kettlewell Fuels Nidderdale Junior Cricket League held its annual presentation event on Saturday, October 14th, 2023, at the Knaresborough Cricket Club with a well-known county cricketer presenting the trophies and an unexpected award for someone special.

The event, which was planned for late afternoon, was a major success and welcomed all clubs, coaches, supporters, parents, and players. Ken Coad, the League Chair, opened the event by thanking everyone involved in the Junior League for their efforts throughout the past season. He also expressed his gratitude to the League Sponsor, Kettlewell Fuels, for their continued support. As well as special thanks to the age group secretaries who manage the league’s age groups.

During the event, Ken highlighted the accomplishments of the junior players, mentioning that three current Yorkshire County players had emerged from the ranks of the Nidderdale Junior League – they are Jonathan Tattersall, Finlay Bean, and Ben Coad, who has almost 250 county championship wickets.

Ben Coad, who attended the event, presented the trophies to the winning clubs. One of the awards given was the Kettlewell Fuels Award for Outstanding Contribution, which was awarded to a surprised Mick Dawson for his work as League Secretary. Ken Coad expressed his delight in presenting the award to Mick, stating that he always goes above and beyond and that the Junior League benefits greatly from his contributions.

Ken closed the presentation with a look forward to the next season, which will see two more clubs joining the league. The Kettlewell Fuels Nidderdale Junior Cricket League remains committed to fostering young talent and providing opportunities for youth players to develop their cricket skills.
