Which farm vehicles can I use red diesel in?

Red diesel is only permitted for use on the road by certain vehicles that are considered ‘exempted’. To qualify for this exemption, vehicles and machinery must be engaged in agricultural, horticultural, fish farming, or forestry-related activities. This includes vehicles used for tasks such as cutting verges and hedges, clearing snow and gritting roads, and they must be registered as being in agricultural use.

If you’re engaged in agricultural activities, you’re free to travel as far as necessary on red diesel. If you’d like more information, including a complete list of vehicles that are eligible to use rebated fuel, please visit the HMRC website.
